Description

Protesters gathered in front of the Brazilian Embassy in Berlin, on Friday, to denounce Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro's environmental policies and call for action to stop fires destroying the Amazon rainforest.

"For me, Bolsonaro is responsible for the fires. One who is in politics, who pressures the press and influences the people to move in a certain direction, is responsible for the consequences. And the consequence is a huge fire in which 25 percent of the Amazon is being burnt." protester Florestan Hoeckh said.

Footage shows protesters chanting and holding banners that read "Where is Friday for Future?" and "Amazonas is being destroyed"

"I deeply hope that Macron is going talk at the G7 about the environmental crisis and what's happening at the moment," said activist Sylvain Bott.

On Thursday, Brazil's National Institute for Space Research reported that wildfires were spreading with a record speed saying its data showed an 84 percent increase as compared to the same period last year.
