An Iranian national has been sentenced to death for allegedly providing details to the CIA and Mossad on the whereabouts of General Qasem Soleimani, who was killed on a US-led drone strike in Baghdad on January 3, Iran's Judiciary spokesperson said in Tehran on Tuesday.
Gholamhossein Esmaili told a televised press conference that a man named Seyyed Mahmoud Mousavi Majd "was sentenced to death by the Islamic Revolutionary Court and the 19th branch of the Supreme Court recently upheld the sentence."
According to Esmaili, the alleged spy was "was connected to both the Mossad service and the CIA service, and in exchange for US dollars, provided them with security various areas, and especially the Armed Forces, including the strong Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, as well as the location and whereabouts of martyr General Haj Qasem Soleimani."
General Soleimani was the leader of the Revolutionary Guards' Quds Force. The US targeted Soleimani for allegedly masterminding attacks by Iran-aligned militias on American forces in the Middle East.
