At least 38 people died amid a landslide in the Lang Nu Village, Phuc Khanh Commune, Bao Yen District in the Northern Vietnam's Lao Cai Province, due to a severe flood that affected the region after the passage of Typhoon Yagi.

Footage filmed on Wednesday shows the rescuers performing the search operation in the devastated area as well as the local authorities communicating with locals.

"We are actively searching for first aid for the injured and especially for the bodies still lying under the rubble. Tonight we will gather to bury our relatives according to local customs," explained Hoang Quoc Bao, Bao Yen District Secretary.

According to Ly Minh Chien, Bao Yen District Military Command Chief, disaster affected a total of 35 households and at least 128 people. Authorities reported 16 bodies were found and 30 people missing at the time of publication.

According to the National Centre for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, moderate to heavy rain is expected to continue in Vietnam.

The Vietnamese government press office said that as of Tuesday, the typhoon had killed 127 people, with 54 still missing and 764 injured. Strong winds and heavy rain damaged over 47,000 homes and around 190,000 hectares of crops. The typhoon hit the Philippines and China's Hainan Island earlier last week.
