Description

Londoners packed the city's shopping streets on Sunday to enjoy Boxing Day and holiday sales, despite fears of the spread of the Omicron variant of coronavirus.

"Everybody wants to buy something on discount, that's why people don't care about COVID at this moment," said a shopper.

"I am aware of the risks insofar, but Christmas is already one time a year, and I want to see the Christmas lights and go do shopping," explained another.

Many showed confidence in the COVID safety measures imposed by the UK government and said they feel safe if the citizens comply with the rules.

"I am wearing a mask; it protects me from coronavirus," said one resident.

Another man stressed: "I am wearing a face mask, and I am triple vaccinated as well, so I think I am as safe as I can be and take all the precautions I can take."
