Description

A firefighting aircraft was seen spraying water over smoke in Safed on Friday, after the Israeli Fire and Rescue Services announced operations to extinguish blazes following dozens of rocket attacks from Lebanon.

Israel reported nearly 120 rockets incoming, with fires in the Golan Heights, Safed, and the Upper Galilee, although the military claimed most landed in open areas and there were no casualties.

Israel hit targets in Lebanon's border regions on Thursday, which it said focused on '100 rocket launchers' belonging to Hezbollah forces.

Hezbollah Secretary-General Hassan Nasrallah warned that this week's mass pager and handheld radio explosions across the country - which the militant group blamed on Israel - had 'crossed red lines' and could be seen as a 'declaration of war'.

The blasts across Lebanon on Tuesday and Wednesday killed 37 and injured nearly 3,000, according to the Lebanese Health Ministry. Israel has not commented on those attacks.

Israel and Hezbollah have been exchanging cross-border fire, which escalated following the outbreak of the Gaza war in October 2023.
