Description

Footage shows the aftermath of a reported Israeli airstrike on a residential building in Ain al-Dalb, east of Sidon, Lebanon, resulting in significant civilian casualties. According to the Lebanese Ministry of Health, 45 people were killed, and 70 others injured in the raid on Sunday, which left the residential structure in ruins.

On Monday, rescue teams and bulldozers were seen conducting search operations amid the debris in the targeted area. The municipality of Sidon condemned what it termed a 'vicious Israeli attack,' referring to the incident as the 'Ain al-Dalb massacre.' They expressed solidarity with the families of the victims and called for mourning in light of the tragedy.

The General Directorate of Internal Security Forces has urged families of the missing to come to designated centres for DNA testing to help identify the victims or remains.

In a statement, the Israeli military confirmed that its Air Force had targeted numerous positions associated with Hezbollah, including rocket launchers and weapons storage facilities across Lebanon.

This escalation is part of Israel's broader military operation, dubbed Operation Northern Arrows, which has reportedly resulted in over 1,030 deaths and more than 6,300 injuries across various regions, including Southern Lebanon, the Bekaa Valley, Mount Lebanon, and Beirut.

In retaliation, Hezbollah has intensified its rocket attacks on multiple Israeli bases and cities, including Safad and Haifa.

On Friday evening, the Israeli army said it had ‘launched a precise airstrike on Hezbollah HQ in Beirut's southern suburbs’, confirming that it had assassinated the group’s Secretary-General Hassan Nasrallah. On Saturday, Hezbollah confirmed the assassination, prompting supporters to rally in mass demonstrations outside US embassies in various countries to denounce Nasrallah’s assassination.

The Israeli army has been exchanging cross-border shelling with Hezbollah, Lebanese and Palestinian factions since October 8, 2023, one day after the Israel-Hamas war broke out.
