Description

Yellow Vest protesters took to the streets in Paris on Saturday to denounce French President Emmanuel Macron’s economic policies and demand higher wages in the face of massive inflation.

Footage shows demonstrators marching, scuffles with riot police, and tear gas being sprayed.

"We held assemblies with real citizens to promote ideas because we didn't just contest; we provided solutions, things that people would like, but they (the government) don't want them because Emmanuel Macron doesn't want to discuss them. Today, four years later, nothing has changed, everything has worsened," Faouzi Lellouche, one of the protesters, said.

Yellow Vest protesters were also seen holding banners reading 'Climate emergency and social peace', 'Macron, Resignation', and 'Macron and the CAC 40 want war. Let's fight'.

"I feel close to the people who are here; they are people who are fighting for their fate, to defend their daily lives, to fill their fridges, to be able to move around. Most of these people work, but they are exploited. They are people who can be in precarious situations and who have allowances that do not allow them to survive," said another protester, Josiane.

The march started from Place de Breteuil in the 7th arrondissement of Paris and ended in the Bercy district in the 12th arrondissement, where the Ministry of Finance is located.
