Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman (MBS) received US Secretary of State Antony Blinken in Riyadh on Wednesday for talks focused on bilateral relations and bringing the conflicts in Lebanon and Gaza to a peaceful resolution.

Footage shows the US diplomat and MBS seated alongside their respective delegations in a meeting room.

"Bilateral relations between the two countries and areas of mutual cooperation were reviewed, including developments in Gaza and Lebanon," the Saudi Press Agency reported, adding that "efforts to halt military operations and address their security and humanitarian implications" were discussed.

Saudi National Security Advisor Dr Musaad bin Mohammed Al-Aiban and the General Intelligence President, Khalid bin Ali Al-Humaidan, reportedly attended the meeting. On the US side, the Ambassador to Saudi Arabia, Michael Ratney, was present.

Blinken embarked on his latest tour of the Middle East on Tuesday, travelling first to Israel, where he met with President Isaac Herzog and Defence Minister Yoav Gallant.

It comes after Israel conducted a ground incursion into parts of southern Lebanon, as well as an ongoing campaign of airstrikes on Hezbollah targets over the past month. Lebanon's Ministry of Health stated that over 2,500 people had been killed at the time of publication.

The current escalation between Israel and Hezbollah began last month with explosions of wireless communications devices used by Hezbollah, which killed dozens and injured thousands. The sides have exchanged cross-border strikes since the outbreak of the 2023 Gaza war.
