Description

Concerts were held in Donetsk and Lugansk regions on Friday to celebrate the signing of the treaties on the regions' accession to Russia.

Viktor, a resident of Shakhtersk, shared his opinion on the signing of the treaties.

"Of course we're happy. We are expecting a lot. The main thing is for our expectations to come true, positive expectations, of course. Life should get better, and most importantly, of course, peace should come, because the situation is difficult," Viktor said.

Earlier, on September 30, President Vladimir Putin agreed to sign documents allowing the accession of the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics, as well as the regions of Kherson and Zaporozhye, to the Russian Federation.

According to Moscow, the move followed referenda in which people living in those areas exercised their right to self-determination and requested to join Russia.

Ukraine and its international allies condemned the move, calling it an annexation of Kiev’s sovereign territory.
