On Friday, former US President Donald Trump was joined on stage by Robert F Kennedy, Jr during a campaign rally in Glendale, Arizona, after the third-party candidate dropped out of the electron race and endorsed the Republican nominee.

"Bobby and I will fight together to defeat the corrupt political establishment and return control of this country to the people," Trump told his supporters.

"For the past 16 months, Bobby has run an extraordinary campaign for President of the United States. I know because he also went after me a couple of times. I didn't like it. And I mean this sincerely. Had he been allowed to enter the Democrat primary, he would have easily beaten Joe Biden," the former president added.

Trump also pledged to release "all of the remaining documents pertaining to the assassination of John F Kennedy" if he were elected president, vowing a new commission would be created to investigate presidential assassination attempts.

"Soon after I was, I can't even believe I have to say this, nearly assassinated in Pennsylvania last month. Bobby called me to express his best wishes. He knows firsthand the risks incurred by leaders who stand up to the corrupt political establishment," Trump said.

"This is a tribute in honour of Bobby. I am announcing tonight that upon my election, I will establish a new, independent Presidential Commission on Assassination Attempts," he continued.

RFK Jr endorsed Trump earlier in the day, saying he would stay off the ballots in battleground states but remain in safe Democrat and Republican areas if people wanted to vote for him.

Trump faces current US Vice President Kamala Harris in the November 5 presidential election. Harris replaced incumbent Joe Biden as the democratic nominee after a slew of high-profile gaffes and a disastrous showing at the presidential debate in Atlanta led him to drop out of the race.

Trump described Harris's candidacy as a 'coup' against Biden after the current president insisted he was best placed to win in the days and weeks before he stepped aside.
