Description

A portrait of late General Qassem Soleimani was projected on the wall of the British Embassy in Tehran on Saturday, ahead of the anniversary of Soleimani’s death in a US drone strike.

Some have speculated that the image of Soleimani is an attempt to suggest that the UK participated in his killing. A documentary film showing the history of Britain’s turbulent relationship with Iran was also projected on the embassy, according to local reports.

Several government-funded billboards commemorating the former General have been burned down amid the ongoing anti-government protests following the death of Mahsa Amini.

The influential Iranian general, Qassem Soleimani, former commander of the Quds Force in the Revolutionary Guards, was assassinated by a US drone strike that targeted his car near Baghdad International Airport on January 3, 2020.
