Citizens of Tehran voiced their opinions on the incoming US president, Joe Biden, on Tuesday, one day before the inauguration of the President-elect on Wednesday.
Most citizens expressed hope Biden's presidency would result in a less hostile relationship between Iran and the US: "They must put aside the wars and conflicts that exist and really shake hands in friendship. We are not at war with the world. And they are certainly not belligerent," said Saeed Tajik, an Iranian Student.
Tajik's views were reflected by other locals who expressed hope Biden would call for negotiations and interactions with Tehran, ending four years of harsh economic sanctions on the Islamic Republic with the end of Trump's presidency.
