Fans gathered at the National Tennis Centre in Beijing on Sunday for the China Open final, where the US's Coco Gauff beat the Czech Republic's Karolina Muchova, claiming the women's singles title.

Footage shows fans gathering at the tennis centre and passing through metal detectors to enter the venue. Some can also be seen taking photos of the National Tennis Centre, which was built for the 2008 Beijing Olympics and is located in the Olympic Park.

"I didn’t know much about tennis before, but I fell in love with it during the Olympics. So, I wanted to come and feel the atmosphere. I also plan to learn tennis in the future," one fan explained.

Although fans expressed enthusiasm for the game ahead, some revealed that they had been hoping to see Chinese tennis star Zheng Qinwen before she was beat by Muchova during the semi-finals.

"I want to watch Zheng Qinwen, but unfortunately, she was eliminated in yesterday's match and I can't watch her match today. But I am also looking forward to the match between Gauff and Muchova," one fan said.

"She is still very young and I think she has a bright future and many opportunities waiting for her. I hope I can have the opportunity to see more of her wonderful performances in the future," another added.

In the final, Gauff defeated Muchova 6-1, 6-3. Earlier in the semi-finals, Muchova defeated Qinwen 6-3, 6-4. After that victory, the Czech player became the lowest-ranked finalist in the history of the event in the last 20 years.

Gauff's victory awarded her a substantial prize of $1,100,000, meanwhile, Muchova earned $585,000. This triumph will also alter the players' global rankings. Starting next week, Gauff will ascend to the world's fourth-ranked player, and Muchova will return to the Top 30.

Gauff is the second American woman to win the China Open. Serena Williams previously won the women's singles title in 2004 and 2013.
