Thousands of fans and athletes flocked to Stade de France in Paris on Sunday for the closing ceremony of the 2024 Paralympic Games.

"I saw athletes with great resilience and great values. I saw Japan's wheelchair tennis against Great Britain - it was magical," Sophie, a Paralympic athlete, said.

Footage shows attendees carrying national flags while some were dressed in their national colours as they entered the closing ceremony.

"Tomorrow I won't be walking around like this, but today I'm allowing myself to do so, to support France, I'm a flag in my own right," a fan said.

The Paralympic flag was handed over from the current French capital to Los Angeles, where the next games will be held in 2028.

"Today's Paralympics ceremony is a great celebration. For some, it's the end of the line, but for many, it's the start of a new era," another supporter stated.

The Paris 2024 Paralympic Games were held from 28 August to 8 September. A total of 169 delegations reportedly took part and 4,400 athletes competed in the Games. Chinese athletes ended on top of the medal table scoring 220 medals overall, including 94 gold, 76 silver and 50 bronze placements, followed by the UK, the US, the Netherlands and Brazil.
