“Sometimes there is a game between a player and a fan, and I think it is normal. I have no problem with them shouting at me, but if we later score a goal, let them understand that there may be a small reaction, but there is no need for violence,” Courtois stated.
The comments come after Simeone criticised Courtois for 'provoking' his club’s fans after Real Madrid’s goal in the previous clash between the two rivals. Atletico fans then hurled at Courtois and insulted him leading to a lengthy interruption in the second half.
"If we provoke people, they get angry. You can celebrate a goal, but not by looking at the stand, taunting them and making gestures," Simeone said after the derby according to media reports.
Talking about Tuesday’s upcoming match, Real Madrid's head coach Carlo Ancelotti praised Dortmund’s squad, saying that the German team plays well individually and collectively, and explained that the instructions given to his striker Kylian Mbappe are the same given to the club’s forward Karim Benzema.
“The position of our centre forward has not changed in recent years. With Karim, I asked him this, and with Mbappe, I asked him the same thing: to position himself well to be ready once we get the ball back and try to make a quick transition,” he stated.
