Berlin's electoral committee addressed a series of irregularities that sparked discussions over a possible repeat of the local House of Representative elections in Berlin on Thursday.
"During the parliamentary elections in Berlin in 2021, irregularities occurred in 207 polling stations," stated head of the Berlin electoral committee Petra Michaelis.
"If we now put this number in relation to the total number of polling stations, which was 2,257, then I can see that in over 2,000 polling stations the election went off without any problems," clarified Michaelis.
After the election chaos Michaelis agreed to step down from her position as Berlin's head of the electoral committee on September 29.
It is still unclear if local elections will need to be repeated in the selected districts or as a whole in Berlin.
