According to reports, an average of 1,000 lorries crossed at Dover each day of the new year so far -- way below the 6,500 daily average.
A local said that the situation is much better when compared with December. "I think there is a lot of people who think it's going to be bad, but I expect it to be smooth myself," the Kent resident said.
The UK officially left the EU on 31 December, 11 PM GMT.
