٠٠:٠١:١٠The German government welcomed the US-Russia summit in Geneva, spokesperson Steffen Seibert said in a regular press briefing in Berlin on Friday.
"We welcome the fact that both presidents met in Geneva and also agreed to continue and deepen this dialogue," Seibert told the press.
"At the same time, the summit has shown that the known differences persist. The West's and also Germany's expectations of Russia continue to exist, as already discussed," he added.
As a sign of bilateral improvement, Seibert mentioned the fact that both ambassadors are now returning to Moscow and Washington.
US President Joe Biden met with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin in Geneva on Wednesday in the first meeting between the two leaders since Biden took office.
