Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi joined thousands of participants to celebrate the International Day of Yoga at Srinagar on Friday.
Footage shows participants performing several yoga positions on the banks of Dal Lake as some were also seen wearing life jackets. The prime minister was seen partaking in the yoga event in a separate area with select members of his team.
"This act [of yoga exercise] has an effect on the entire body, an act that is very effective for the body," Modi said in his speech.
Over the years, Modi has led Yoga Day celebrations at various locations across India, including Delhi's Kartavya Path, Chandigarh, Dehradun, Ranchi and Jabalpur. Last year, he led the event at the UN Headquarters in New York.
