Olympic champion Ahmed El Hefnaoui received a hero welcome at Tunis Carthage International Airport, on Saturday, after the final of the men's 400m freestyle swimming event during the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo.
Among those who hailed Al- Hefnaoui was the Minister of Sports, Siham Al-Ayadi, Esperance Tunis chairman Hamdi Al-Madeb and crowds of fans, as the footage shows.
"Thank you very much for your delight and messages, it thrills me. Thank God, my intent is to cheer up all Tunisians together with elevating the status of Tunis,” Al- Hefnaoui expressed upon his arrival.
The 18-year-old swimmer has voiced his ambition to score more gold medals in the future, revealing that his achievement was due to his tireless work.
The swimmer's mother, Amira Ben Younes, added: "He started when he was six years old, he persistently exerted tremendous efforts with a lot of sacrifices during his childhood."
