Hezbollah Secretary-General Hassan Nasrallah said that the response to the killing of Iranian commander Qasem Solemiani will not be a single operation but "a long path that should lead to the removal of the American military presence" from the Middle East. Nasrallah made the comments during a televised address from Beirut Sunday.

"The days will reveal to you that after the death of Qasem Soleimani, it will be another world where there is no security for these tyrants, murderers, criminals and despots.'' Nasrallah said.

He added, "Americans should get their soldiers, bases, officers, and ships out of our area. They have to leave. The alternative, I will reverse now what I have said in my previous [speech], the alternative to leaving vertically [dying] is to leave horizontally.''

On January 3, Soleimani and the deputy leader of Iraq's Popular Mobilisation Forces (PMF), Mohammed Ali Ebrahimi, also known as Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis, were killed by a US drone strike near Baghdad's airport, triggering an escalation of tensions in the region.
