Lebanese expressed their views in Beirut on Monday regarding the death of Iranian President Raisi in a helicopter crash on Sunday, alongside several high-ranking officials.

"As for the accident that happened in Iran yesterday, it is a natural accident and can happen anywhere around the world. The weather was bad and foggy, and this caused the crash," said Adnan Haraki, another Lebanese citizen. "It is not the right time for such news as we are in the middle of a war with the Israeli enemy. However, there are many competent leaders, and we rely on God after all".

Footage shows the Lebanese flag lowered at the Government Palace and TV Building, alongside the Iranian flag flying at half-mast at the Iranian Embassy in Lebanon.

"It is a natural disaster that resulted in an unfortunate accident," stressed Naem Saleh, a Lebanese citizen. "Now they will start making conspiracies and spreading the news on social media, but I believe it is a natural accident and can happen to anyone".

However, Mohammed Saleem, a Lebanese citizen, claimed that the circumstances surrounding the crash may not be straightforward and could potentially involve external factors.

"The news was harsh and disturbing, and it's known who stands behind it. Where was he? How did he leave? How did the plane crash? There's no need to discuss it. May God avenge Israel and America," he said.

Raisi had been at the inauguration of the Qiz-Qalasi Dam and met with Azerbaijan's President Ilham Aliyev. The Iranian president, his Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian and others were confirmed dead by state media and officials after the US-made Bell 212 helicopter came down in the mountains during heavy fog. No official cause has been reported at the time of publication.

Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei declared five days of national mourning. First Vice President Mohammad Mokhber will take over as acting president for an interim period, with elections scheduled after 50 days. Deputy Foreign Minister Ali Bagheri Kani becomes acting foreign minister.

Condolences came from the leaders of Russia, India, Pakistan, Iraq, Syria, Egypt and others. Raisi, a conservative cleric seen as close to the Supreme Leader, was elected in 2021.
