Rambam Hospital in Haifa began transferring patients to underground facilities on Sunday following Hezbollah's rocket attacks on northern Israel. Footage shows patients, hospital beds and medical equipment, being moved.

"Mobilisation of the entire hospital—this is the first time. This is the biggest underground hospital in the world, and we can basically provide solutions for 2,200 patients," said General Director Dr Michael Halbertal.

"Let us all hope that we will have only good news, and let us hope that we won’t have any casualties, but we will prepare to have a solution for any scenario," he added.

The Ministry of Health instructed all hospitals in northern Israel to operate only in fortified areas, while Rambam Hospital, the largest in Haifa, announced it would work exclusively underground.

Hezbollah said it had launched dozens of rockets into northern Israel. The Israeli military reported that 85 rockets were fired, including into Haifa and Lower Galilee, and said it had struck targets in Lebanon in response to Hezbollah's attacks.

Tensions between Lebanon and Israel escalated following wireless device explosions on Tuesday and Wednesday, as well as the Israeli airstrike on Beirut's southern suburb on Friday, which resulted in the deaths of at least 45 people, including senior Hezbollah leaders Ibrahim Aqil.

Hezbollah and Israel have exchanged cross-border shelling in recent months, with the hostilities escalating following the outbreak of the Gaza war in October 2023.
