Eager fans of Winter Olympics souvenirs could be seen around a new pop-up store area in Beijing's Chaoyang district on Tuesday, amid a recent mascot merchandise shortage.
Footage shows people walking around stalls and booths, featuring Olympic-themed products.
Souvenirs, including Bing Dwen Dwen official mascot, a cheerful panda dressed in a suit of ice, have been selling like hotcakes during the past few days due to unexpected popularity.
"First reason [of why ‘Bing Dwen Dwen’ mascot is so popular] is because of the Winter Olympics opening ceremony. Everybody saw Bing Dwen Dwen, so [people] were like "Oh my god, it is so cute," said Ann, a Beijing resident.
Reportedly, the Beijing Olympic organising committee asked souvenir factories to produce more.
The Beijing Winter Games started on February 4th and will last until February 20th. After that, the Paralympic Winter Games will begin on March 4th, lasting until March 13th.
