An uninhabited building collapsed in the Bayada neighborhood of Homs city on Friday as consequence of an aftershock quake. According to the authorities, there are no casualties, since the building was already evacuated.

"This is one of the affected neighborhoods of the war. After the devastating earthquake that hit our country recently, we set up several committees to assess the technical conditions of the buildings. As a result, more than nine buildings have been evacuated in this neighborhood. About an hour and a quarter ago, we were informed of a collapsed building. The City Council, Fire Brigade, and heavy machinery headed to the site. We are currently removing the rubble to make sure that no one is trapped," informed Abdullah Al-Bawab, the mayor of Homs.

On Monday, February 6, two earthquakes hit Syria and Turkey, devastating cities across the two countries. Many buildings were reported to have collapsed, with Aleppo and Hama badly affected.
