Several protesters were detained in central Minsk during the opposition "Justice March," with some seen being escorted to police vans, Sunday.

Protesters were seen walking along the central streets, including the Nezavisimosti Avenue holding white-red flags and posters reading, "The nation is a champion."

Some central streets were cordoned off by law enforcement officers, with police vehicles spotted in the area.

The number of those detained on Sunday remains unknown. The Belarus Association of Journalists reports of one cameraman detained at the Nezavisimosti Square.

Earlier in the day police had detained 430 people during anti-government rallies across the country, the Internal Affairs Ministry of Belarus reported. It also added that 385 of those detained had already been released.

Belarus has been swept by anti-government protests following the disputed presidential election on Sunday, August 9, that saw incumbent president Alexander Lukashenko re-elected for a sixth term. On August 19 the European Union announced plans to enact sanctions against "a substantial number of individuals responsible for violence, repression, and election fraud" in Belarus.
