Wildfires broke out in Golan Heights on Friday night after Hezbollah launched several rockets targeting northern Israel and Golan.

Footage captured the rapidly spreading wildfires, engulfing vast mountainous areas as firefighting crews worked to extinguish the flames near the settlement of Katzrin.

Israel's Fire and Rescue Service confirmed that the fires were ignited as a direct result of the rocket attacks by the militant group.

The service reported that firefighters were actively deployed to combat blazes near the settlements of Katzrin and Baram, close to the Lebanese border. Additionally, a third wildfire was successfully extinguished in the northern settlement of Hatzor.

Over 180 rockets were fired into Israel today from southern Lebanon, including 70 in a single hour, according to the Israeli newspaper Haaretz.

Hezbollah, for its side, announced that it had fired a 'barrage of rockets' at the military base near Katzrin.

Israel started a 'limited and targeted' ground incursion on Tuesday, after over a week of airstrikes on Hezbollah targets in southern Lebanon. More than 1,200 were reported killed and over 7,000 injured in those strikes at time of publication, according to the Lebanese Health Ministry.

Last Friday, an Israeli attack on Beirut's southern suburb killed Hezbollah Secretary-General Hassan Nasrallah and others. Iran launched a wave of missiles on Tuesday, which it said was in response to that assassination and others.

Tensions in southern Lebanon first escalated in mid-September after mass explosions of pagers and handheld radios belonging to Hezbollah. The group has exchanged cross-border fire with Israel since the outbreak of the Gaza war in October 2023.
