The Russian Olympic Committee women's synchronised swimming team won gold at the Olympic Games in Tokyo on Saturday. The athletes told about their impressions and plans after the final at a press conference on Saturday.

This is the sixth time that the Russian team have won gold in group competitions at the Olympics. According to Olympic champion Alla Shishkina, the team has a secret to their success.

"I think that this is the first secret - our trainer. Secondly, we train every day for 10 hours, almost 300 days a year. We have a special closed base where we train. And the third secret is that they are wonderful athletes, strong, hardy, loving their work and probably ready to do almost anything for this medal," said Shishkina.

According to Alexandra Patskevich, synchronised swimmers have to sacrifice a lot to achieve their goals.

"Since we are athletes, of course, we refuse both personal life and communication with the family, in my case, communication with my son. In the conditions of the coronavirus, we had to stay more with the team in order not to put our health at risk. Therefore, this medal is probably more difficult than all the previous ones," Patskevich added.

Polina Komar said that the absence of the anthem and the flag affected the emotional mood of the team.

"I think we were very emotional on the podium, because it was a very long and difficult preparation, and we have been waiting for these Olympic Games for a very long time. We were happy with the result. It's a shame that we couldn't sing the anthem and look at our flag, but we will do it in our own country," Komar said.

According to the latest data, the ROC team is in fourth place in the overall medal standings of the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo. The team has 69 medals in its arsenal.
