Nguyen Vu Hoang Anh, an experienced baker and owner of the Mito Sweets cake studio in Vietnam, showcased his expertise in creating cakes shaped like miniature aristocratic dresses from fondant, which had become viral on social media.
Footage captured in Hanoi on Wednesday shows the astonishing treats presented in fondant-made classic attires. Chef Nguyen was also seen showcasing his skills from rolling out the sugar layer to attaching it to the 'dress' and shaping flowers from the material.
"The cake world is very diverse, there are many cake designs and many different decorative materials, but the reason why I chose the material of this classic dress cake model is because of its pattern and motifs which have a curious appeal to me," chef Nguyen explained.
"From the patterns to the layering of fabric, surely you have seen it somewhere, because these are all very authentic designs. My job is very simple: learn how to copy it with these existing beauties using edible materials, specifically here is cake and high-quality fondant sugar," he continued.
The cake artist in addition noted the difficulties in making the pastry, such as preserving the fondant in Vietnam's specific weather conditions and shaping the raw materials into delicate details for dresses' decoration.
"I want this to be a walk, and this walk requires always looking for new things so the game can last forever. If you have reached the end of the path, it will be very boring. So, my goal is to always find new things to explore to make my career more interesting and last longer," Nguyen concluded.
Nguyen Vu Hoang Anh is one of Vietnam's most renowned cake artists, known for his unique stance and creativity in his 12-year experience in the cake decorating industry. The 34-year-old chef also holds workshops and classes on baking in Vietnam, as well as several other countries through his own studio Mito Sweets.
The dress cakes, bearing influence from the European attires of the Baroque era, could cost up to 3 million VND ($118) per each.
