"Yellow Vests" protests in central Brussels on European election day continued on Sunday afternoon, with police forces detaining several demonstrators.

Footage shows Belgian riot police scuffling with protesters and using pepper spray against one man, before arresting several close to Brussels' central Grand-Place.

Demonstrators hurled stones and removed barriers, while police reportedly responded with occasional pepper spray use. Police forces on horseback and police dogs were also deployed to contain the crowds.

The protest follows Saturday's large Yellow Vests rally in Paris, and comes as the country holds domestic elections alongside the EU vote.
