Description

Streets were left submerged across the Westphalian city of Hagen, on Wednesday, after heavy record rainfall hit the region.

A resident went out in the street to record the event as the water continued to rise.

According to local sources, at least 440 rescue workers operate in different parts of the city, helping people evacuate safely.

At least 42 people have been killed, with many more missing, after unprecedented rainfall caused multiple rivers to burst their banks, creating flash floods, in western Germany's North Rhine-Westphalia and Rhineland Palatinate. Six people have also died due to the flooding in Belgium, while the Netherlands and Luxembourg have also been affected.
