Description

Dignitaries from numerous nations gathered in Tehran on Wednesday to honour the late President Ebrahim Raisi, who passed away in a helicopter crash alongside Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian and their accompanying delegation.

The footage features the funeral procession headed by Iran's Deputy Foreign Minister for Economic Diplomacy, Mehdi Safari, which saw the participation of 68 officials from 50 foreign countries.

A reception and meetings with heads of state and officials were held at Iran's Presidential Bureau, providing an opportunity for international leaders to express their condolences and pay their respects.

The Iranian president, foreign minister Amir-Abdollahian and others were confirmed dead by state media and officials after their helicopter came down in the mountains of northern Iran during heavy fog on Sunday.

The Supreme Leader declared five days of national mourning. First Vice President Mohammad Mokhber will take over as acting president for an interim period, with elections scheduled after 50 days. Deputy Foreign Minister Ali Bagheri Kani becomes acting foreign minister.

Condolences came from the leaders of Russia, India, Pakistan, Iraq, Syria, Egypt and others. Raisi, a conservative cleric seen as close to the Supreme Leader, was elected in 2021.
