American politician and presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. announced on Friday in Phoenix that he would suspend his campaign and remove his name from the ballots in 10 battleground states. Kennedy urged voters not to vote for him in the upcoming presidential election.
"My name will remain on the ballot in most states. If you live in a blue state, you can vote for me without harming or helping President Trump or Vice President Harris," Kennedy said.
He criticised the Democratic Party for selecting Vice President Kamala Harris as its candidate, noting that Harris has not participated in any interviews or debates during the election cycle. Kennedy accused the party of "weaponising government agencies" and abandoning democratic principles.
"Back then, the Democrats were the champions of the Constitution and of civil rights. The Democrats stood against authoritarianism, censorship, colonialism, imperialism, and unjust wars,” Kennedy stated. “As you know, I left that party in October because it had departed so dramatically from the core values that I grew up with, and it became a party of war, censorship, corruption, big pharma, big tech.”
Kennedy's exit from the race comes as the US presidential election approaches on November 5, 2024. Donald Trump has already been nominated as the Republican candidate for the 2024 race.
