Description

China's Foreign Minister Wang Yi will meet with a delegation of the Taliban leadership in Doha this week his spokesperson Wang Wenbin confirmed during a press briefing in Beijing on Monday.

"The Chinese government and Taliban authorities have a plan to meet in Doha. This is the follow-up of the past interaction, including the meeting in Tianjin in July but also the first official meeting between the two sides since the Taliban took over the internal government," Wang stated.

Wang also commented on how the meeting would be a good opportunity for both sides to "have deep communication on Afghanistan issues and affairs of common interests."

The spokesperson also urges the United States to abide by the one-China-Principle when it comes to Taiwan issues, warning that the island is attempting "to boost its influences in the world" and that "such attempt will fail."
