Russian President Vladimir Putin helped Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy get into position as photographers gathered around the table they sat at alongside French President Emmanuel Macron and German Chancellor Angela Merkel at the “Normandy Four” talks in Paris on Monday.
After the leaders gathered at a roundtable meeting, the Ukrainian leader did not notice that photographers were taking pictures behind him. Macron motioned to Zelenskiy to turn around for the cameras, but he did not notice, prompting Putin to jump in and tell him to turn so they could all pose for a photo together.
Normandy Four was created in July 2014 to secure a peaceful settlement to the conflict in eastern Ukraine. The leaders of Russia, Ukraine, France and Germany first discussed the settlement of the conflict in eastern Ukraine during the celebrations of the 70th anniversary of the Allied landings in Normandy. Since then, many telephone conversations and summits have taken place between the leaders of the four countries, and foreign ministers have also had contacts
