Description

The aftermath of Israeli air strikes on southern Lebanon was seen in Nabatieh, as escalating tensions between Israeli forces and Hezbollah forced residents to flee the affected areas.

Footage shows smoke rising destroyed houses and cars while emergency workers were seen clearing debris using excavators.

Israeli air strikes targeted the cities of Nabatieh Al-Fawqa and Kfarman, as well as the heights of the province of Al-Tuffah and the surrounding areas of Sajd, Ansar, Jbaa, Al-Kharab, and Bint Jbeil in recent days according to media reports.

"We will continue to strike Hezbollah. And I say to the people of Lebanon: Our war is not with you; our war is with Hezbollah. Nasrallah is leading you to the brink of the abyss," Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated on Tuesday.

Netanyahu pledged to "change the balance of power in the north," emphasising that this is precisely what Israel is doing.

Hezbollah announced that it had targeted several IDF locations, including Megiddo Airfield near Afula. Israeli media outlets reported that Hezbollah had fired more than 100 rockets towards northern Israel since Tuesday morning.

Tensions in southern Lebanon have escalated over the past week following the mass explosions of pagers and walkie-talkies used by Hezbollah and the Israeli shelling of Beirut's southern suburb, which has killed Hezbollah commander Ibrahim Aqeel. In response, Hezbollah fired rockets towards northern Israel. At least 569 people have been killed and 1,835 others wounded, the Lebanese Ministrty of Health reported at the time of publication.

The Israeli army has been exchanging cross-border shelling with Hezbollah, Lebanese, and Palestinian factions since October 8, 2023, one day after the Israel-Hamas war broke out.
