At least 42 people have been killed, with many more missing, after unprecedented rainfall caused multiple rivers to burst their banks, creating flash floods, in western Germany's North Rhine-Westphalia and Rhineland Palatinate. Six people have also died due to the flooding in Belgium, while the Netherlands and Luxembourg have also been affected.
