Description

Around 500 volunteers from the Ahmadiyya Muslim Youth Organisation mobilised themselves at Nurburgring, in Nurburg to provide aid to victims of flooding, as seen in Nurburgring on Saturday.

"The tasks we have here are, for example, to sort the things that people donate from all over Germany and then distribute them to those in need," said Ansir Ahmad, Imam and theologian of the Ahmadiyya Muslim community.

The Nurburgring aid centre was flooded with piles of clothes and drinks donations, as well as everyday essential items, which were ready to be sent to victims of the recent devastating floods across Germany and Western Europe.

According to reports, the organisers have decided to distribute all aid to the places where it is most urgently needed within the next 14 days.

Over 150 people were killed, and more than 1,000 have gone missing after flash floods hit parts of western Germany, while tens of thousands have been left without electricity.

"Several hundred lunch boxes were made and since this morning, thanks to our helpers, we have made these lunch boxes available and we will come here again and again over the next few days and provide food with the helpers," said Aradish Khalid, Youth leader of the Ahmadiyya community in Neuwied.

Flooding has also affected Belgium, the Netherlands, and Luxembourg.
