Palestinian protesters and activists faced off with Israeli police in the Sheikh Jarrah district of East Jerusalem on Saturday amid fears of new evictions in the Arab neighbourhood.
Israeli police fired tear gas and pushed activists away from the checkpoint leading to the district, which has been cordoned off by the armed officers for several weeks.
Residents and the press filmed the verbal and physical confrontations but later were forced to leave the area.
The planned eviction of Palestinian families from East Jerusalem's Sheikh Jarrah neighbourhood, as well as confrontations at the al-Aqsa compound, had sparked a new round of Israel-Palestine hostilities which left hundreds dead in its wake before a ceasefire was reached.
