Description

The Secretary General of the Austrian People's Party (OVP) Karl Nehammer pledged that all parties will be included in coalition talks during a news conference in Vienna on Tuesday.

"We have said that we will talk with everyone. We exclude no one. We are seeing how the talks are taking place. And we will see what the atmosphere is like. I would kindly ask you for your understanding," Nehammer said at the event.

Nehammer's comments come after the OVP, led by Sebastian Kurz won a snap election on Sunday.

"I can say that the election campaign was very intense, that the mood was sometimes very aggressive against us, against Sebastian Kurz. We can say that this election result shows that those who voted against him in parliament were punished by the ballots," added Nehammer.

The snap election was announced after Kurz's government collapsed in May following the release of a recording of then-Vice Chancellor Heinz-Christian Strache discussing government contracts with a woman claiming to be the niece of a Russian oligarch.
