Description

Arab League Secretary-General Ahmed Aboul Gheit has stated that renewal of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) would be the 'best option' to resolve tension in the Persian Gulf, during the Rome Mediterranean Dialogue (MED) in Rome on Friday.

Geit warned that nuclear military power in the gulf region would likely 'trigger a race' involving Arab nations.

"The best option from my point of view is to renew JCPOA, to reach a certain conclusion there, to have the patience to work for a settlement," said Gheit.

International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) chief Rafael Grossi also expressed hopes to clarify the presence of uranium traces that hadn't previously been declared by Iran.
