Description

Injured were seen arriving to the American University Hospital and Bahman Hospital in Beirut as a new wave of explosions apparently linked to electronic devices killed at least 20 people and injured more than 450 across the country on Wednesday.

Footage shows ambulances arriving to the hospitals while family members and journalists waiting outside the emergency gates.

On Wednesday, a new series of devices' explosions hit Beirut's southern suburbs and other areas across Lebanon. Some of the explosions reportedly occurred when crowds gathered to bid farewell to those killed during the pager-bomb attack on Tuesday.

Hezbollah has attributed the explosions to Israeli forces, although the Israel Defence Forces (IDF) have not officially commented on the allegations.

However on Wednesday, Israeli Defence Minister Yoav Gallant said that the forces "are are at the start of a new phase in the war" which 'requires courage, determination and perseverance,' as well as praised the Israeli army for 'very impressive' results.

Earlier in the day, Lebanese Health Minister Firas Al-Abiad provided a sobering update on the humanitarian toll, reporting that at least 12 people, including a child, had died, and nearly 2,800 others were injured from the recent explosions, with 1,620 still hospitalised.

This violence marks a continuation of cross-border shelling between Hezbollah, Palestinian factions, and Israeli forces since October 8, shortly after the Israel-Hamas war erupted in Gaza.
