Description

A golden life-sized statue depicting Germany’s outgoing chancellor Angela Merkel on horseback was exhibited in the Bavarian town of Etsdorf on Sunday.

The 3-D printed tribute is 2.7 metres (8.9 feet) tall and was unveiled by artist Wilhelm Koch on Friday and is a nod to traditional statues of leaders on horses.

Merkel is set to leave her position as chancellor, which she has held for 16 years, once a coalition government is formed.

Germany’s political parties are currently holding exploratory talks after the federal election was held on September 26.
