Hundreds of Polish people marched in the streets of Warsaw on Saturday in solidarity with migrants stranded on the Polish-Belarusian border.
Waving banners and symbolic flags made of metallized plastic sheeting, the demonstrators shouted that migrants are 'welcome.'
"We have gathered here to express our concern for those who are still in the Polish forests. They were deceived by the Lukashenko regime; they were also deceived by the Polish authorities who, violating human rights and national law," said one of the speakers at the demonstration.
Tensions between the EU and Belarus have increased in recent months over the EU accusing Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko of deliberately sending migrants to the border in response to the sanctions imposed by the EU, which he denies.
