The funeral ceremony for Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi, Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, and their companions was held in Qom on Tuesday.

The footage features thousands gathering for the ceremony as the bodies of the president and his companions were transferred from various holy shrines in the city.

Setayesh Radmehr, a resident of Qom, expressed her deep sorrow: "I was truly touched. I have lost very lovely people in my life. Really, my feeling when I lost them (President Raisi and companions) was the same as when I lost my father. I was truly touched."

Another resident, Mahdi Dadravan, reflected on the significance of the gathering: "Many people have come here to appreciate his efforts and to say that our people, means Iranians, have experienced many things like this, but we will never forget his efforts, the way he actually used to go and used to be a person to save our country from this bad situation."

Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi was killed in a helicopter crash on Sunday, according to state media and Iranian officials on Monday.

The 63-year-old president was reported dead, alongside his Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian and others after the US-made Bell 212 helicopter came down in the mountains in northern Iran’s East Azerbaijan province during heavy fog. No official cause has been reported at the time of publication.

Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei declared five days of national mourning. First Vice President Mohammad Mokhber will take over as acting president for an interim period, with elections scheduled after 50 days. Deputy Foreign Minister Ali Bagheri Kani becomes acting foreign minister.

Condolences came from the leaders of Russia, India, Pakistan, Iraq, Syria, Egypt and others. Raisi, a conservative cleric seen as close to Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, was elected in 2021.
