COP26 President Alok Sharma held back tears as he announced the deal reached by the delegates of the summit in Glasgow on Saturday.

"I apologise for the way this process has unfolded and I am deeply sorry. I also understand the deep disappointment but I think as you have noted it’s also vital that we protect this package," Sharma said.

The deal reached is the first one that plans the reduction of coal with more urgent emission cuts envisaged. The countries agreed to phase down the usage of coal, not abandoning it completely, thus not leading to limiting global warming significantly.
