Description

An NGO in the German town of Biesenthal has been collecting and delivering tons of humanitarian aid supplies for migrants stranded at the Poland-Belarus border.

The organisation, named 'Wir Packen's An' ('We Deliver It'), which regularly sends supplies to Bosnian and Greek migrant camps, has already delivered two trucks, or about seven tons of good to to the Poland-Belarus border area, while the next batch is being prepared to be sent early next week, as was seen on Tuesday.

Wir Packen's An deputy chief Miriam Toedter explained the supplies are handed over to smaller organisations in the border region, who then divided it between migrants.

Many residents of the border area are also helping, she noted, adding, “they put a green lantern in their windows and it's a sign that migrants can safely come there and get a warm meal, get warm clothes and maybe charge their phones."

"What they urgently need is clothes that are both waterproof and warm," she stressed, as the temperatures are now often below zero during the night.
