Description

The police tried to surround opposition supporters demanding the resignation of Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, who had gathered for a protest near the parliament building in Yerevan on Tuesday.

Law enforcement officers were seen arriving at the scene and starting to surround rally participants.

The protesters were chanting slogans and setting a large tent near the service entrance of the parliament building.

Anti-Pashinyan protests originally began in November 2020 after the Armenian Prime Minister signed the Russian-brokered deal to end the fighting between Azerbaijani and Armenian forces over the disputed region of Nagorno-Karabakh.

Under the terms of the trilateral agreement, a number of Nagorno-Karabakh districts have officially handed control over to Azerbaijan.
