Description

Several vehicles and houses were left heavily damaged after deadly flooding hit town of Ahrweiler, in Rhineland-Palatinate on Thursday.

At least four people died, and dozens are still missing in different towns across the western German state.

A house lost its front wall, while several others are in danger of collapsing. A lorry could also be seen stuck off the ground in a pile of rubble.

The floods also prompted mass evacuations and several road closures. Fire brigades and rescue workers could be seen operating in the area.

At least 42 people have been killed, with many more missing, after unprecedented rainfall caused multiple rivers to burst their banks, creating flash floods, in North Rhine-Westphalia and Rhineland Palatinate. Six people have also died due to the flooding in Belgium, while the Netherlands and Luxembourg have also been affected.
