The football village was filled with fans even before the beginning of the match, which took place at the Gazprom Arena stadium, and ended 1:0 to the home team. In total, only five thousand people were able to visit Konyushennaya Square due to COVID-19 restrictions.

The game began with a goal that was disallowed – Finnish striker Joel Pohjanpalo sent the ball into the Russian goal, but was caught offside by VAR.

On the 46th minute of the first half, striker Aleksey Miranchuk managed to score, assisted by Artem Dzyuba. This allowed the Russian team to win.

The next match of the Russian national team will take place on June 21 in Copenhagen against the Danish team.

Euro 2020 started on June 11 and will run until July 11. Initially, the European Championship was supposed to take place in 2020, but the dates for the event were postponed for a year due to the coronavirus pandemic.
